Anti-Aging With Tea

Tea is a popular world wide beverage.  Tea goes way beyond the usual black and green tea,  to herbal teas and blends of different strains of tea.  The drinking of tea goes way back several hundred years. There are proven benefits from drinking tea from the flavonoids it contains, tannins, vitamins and anti-oxidants.

Black tea is the most well known.  It has been shown to decrease inflammation in the body and signs of sun damage in the skin!  It is also one of the best skin protectors when you drink it.  Those who drink black tea regularly have a lower risk of skin cancer.  Add a citrus twist for even more protection!  It is appearing more and more in lotions and creams to topically refresh your skin!

Green tea is very popular and well know for its health benefits.  It's most widely know ingredient is EGCG.  It has a long list of healthy benefits from assisting in weight loss, cancer fighter, anti-ager and more.  It is also in cosmetics, lotions and serums.  In these different products it helps heal wounds, and like black tea, it helps boost sunscreen by consuming aging free radicals in the body.  In face cream it helps curb acne outbreaks and helps to control oily-ness.

White tea is the least processed of the teas.  It has the highest levels of antioxidants and protects skin plumping collagen and elastin.  It has a milder taste than black tea.  As with black and green tea, when you drink it, it helps to protect your skin from environmental and sun damage.  Make your own skin freshener by spritzing cooled brewed white tea onto your skin.

There are all kinds of things used tea bags can be used for too.  Placed on eyes, it helps bring down any puffiness.  Place tea bags on sun burns to calm the skin and help heal the burn.  Hold a used tea bag on a sore tooth to help calm inflammation and pain.

No matter which tea you choose, be sure to brew it according to directions to get the most out of those leaves.  Most recommend brewing with hot, boiling water to get the antioxidants out of the tea. If you like it cold or iced, first brew it and then refrigerate and ice as you choose.

Enjoy a cup of Camellia sinensis (where all tea, whether black, white or green come from) and protect against sun-damage, soothe redness, inflammation and enjoy smooth, beautiful skin.  Relax, unwind and feel and look beautiful no matter what time of year!
